About Cara's Creations

            Cara's Creations offers unique jewelry designed and hand-made by Cara Jablon in Washington, D.C.  Cara, a retired attorney, has been designing jewelry since 1999.  Her jewelry has been displayed and sold in numerous juried shows in the Washington, D.C. area.   Cara's collection of jewelry includes designs appropriate for the office setting, as well as for activities outside the office and for weekend fun.  Her jewelry is designed to be easy to wear with large, easy to use lobster and toggle clasps.

            The jewelry in Cara's collection includes classic, elegant lariats and necklaces made from fresh-water pearls, semi-precious stones, crystal, and glass.  She offers long, versatile fresh-water pearl lariats in white, pink, and blue.  Short lariats are also available.  Cara's timeless and classic designs include multi-strand head-drilled pearl necklaces in white, green, pink/grey/white, and copper/champagne/taupe/white.  Other color combinations are available by special order.  Cara also offers a broad variety of earrings, sterling silver stretch bracelets, and sterling silver stretch rings.   Earrings can be ordered with sterling silver wires, posts, small post hoops, or with non-pierced screw backs.

            Cara enjoys working with varied geometric shapes and contrasting colors.  Her collection includes many necklaces, bracelets and earrings containing both circles and squares, with black onyx and red coral beads or hematite and black onyx beads.  She also makes six-strand semi-precious stone necklaces in single color tonalities, such as red or picture jasper, with a large variety of shape variation in the beads.  Most of her designs are symmetrical in form, although her collection does contain some short lariats with a random design.

            Cara uses the pearl knotting method to make her necklaces: her necklaces are strung on nylon and silk bead cord, with knots typically used to separate and secure the beads.  All of Cara's earrings are finished with a wrapped wire technique for a professional look and secure hold.

            In recent years, Cara has also been making cylinder and round beaded beads from Japanese delica beads using the peyote stitch.  She incorporates these beads into her necklaces and earrings.  A number of beaded bead necklaces and earrings are pictured on this website.

            Cara can design necklaces, lariats, earrings, and bracelets to your specifications.  Many of the pictured necklaces can be ordered in different lengths.  Cara also restrings pearls and costume jewelry necklaces.  The price for pearl restringing is $1/inch, plus the cost of the clasp and materials, and shipping.
